Ø  The Balkan Physical Union (BPU) is a non-governmental, non-profit scientific organization, established in 1986. The first Balkan Physical Union Council meeting was held in Bucharest in 1987, when the first BPU Constitution was adopted.

Ø  The members of BPU are the National Physical Societies from 10 countries: Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Montenegro, Moldova, North-Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Turkey.

Ø  Starting from 2023, BPU became a legal entity with its headquarters established at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
